We are not a normal airbnb 🙂 We prefer to think of our guests as our friends and room-mates, not customers. Our house is not a hotel, it’s not spotlessly clean or meticulously designed. It’s a home, it’s simple, spacious and comfortable. It’s a place for living beings, for experiencing and sharing.
Basic information
Mata House is a working community that encourages awareness, connection, nature, expression and freedom. We invite you to treat it as your own home, and be part of our little community for a while. This means you are welcome to take part in our activities, and it also means we will ask you to take care of your own space, as well as the shared spaces, like we all do.
At any given time there are volunteers living in the house, and sometimes we have events. We have daily activities, such as meditation in the morning and classes in the evening. We have a weekly schedule, where we work in gardening, carpentry, on the grounds, house, and on various projects. We ask you respect the quiet of the space during our meditations, and you are welcome to join our activities if you’d like.
Accommodations and surroundings
Accommodations are in spacious, light and airy rooms in Mata House. The rooms have wooden floors, simple furniture, and there is a big balcony around the house.
The house has central heating, and is naturally cool in summer. Necessities such as towels, linen blankets etc. will be provided. There is very fast fiber internet WIFI, which will be open to guests.
Mata house has a big, beautiful garden, with lawn you can enjoy. The land is full of plants and trees. Mata House has a big pool, which is open in the summer months.
The village is small, quiet, and has no shops except a small local coffee shop. There is no bus service, transportation is only by car, taxi, or bicycle. There are several towns 10-20 minutes’ drive away – Torres Novas, Fatima, Entroncamento and Tomar. There you can find supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, hospitals, events, concerts, and all the necessary services.
If you enjoy going out often, entertainment, bars, etc., that’s great, but this is probably not the place for you. Life is quiet here, and we enjoy being here mostly. There are many fascinating places to go, but mainly if you have a car. If you don’t have car, please be mindful that we can’t promise when we can drive you to town, although experience shows this usually works out for everyone, and we often have outings to various locations

- The family option is only for families with children under 18, not for couples or friend groups.
- If you have kids under 3 years old, please talk to us first. The rooms are next to each other, we are a working community and we cannot afford to have sleepless nights. Thanks for understanding
Availability & Reservations
Currently we are open for rentals until mid/end of September 2024.
We will probably re-open around November, contact us later to find out.
To reserve we ask for a 30% non-refundable deposit, either by bank transfer, or credit card (with additional fee).
The rest can be by cash or transfer.
